Ban on Smoking in Public Places
Ban on Smoking in Public Places”, and I had to use Rogerian Argument. I sent the research paper to tutor.com, and I’ll write the tutor feedback in the bottom after the essay instructions.
This essay must include a minimum of five sources. Three should peer-reviewed sources, preferably from the APUS databases. You may use eBooks; however, as discussed in your textbook, books generally are not as current as peer-reviewed articles. You may also use primary sources (interviews, statistics, etc); however, these primary sources should be obtained from experts within that field. If you cannot find strong sources for your chosen topic, then change your topic. If you have a question about the validity of a source, please email me, or post your question to the open forum.
Make sure to include the following sections in your essay:
an introduction and claim,
background,
body,
and a conclusion.
Within the body of your essay, make sure to include the following in any order:
The background for your chosen topic,
the opposition – use an academic tone, and do not show bias,
the strengths and weaknesses of your opponents claim,
scholarly research,
your claim — use an academic tone, and do not show bias,
discuss the warrants for your claim and the opposition in order to find the common ground,
and show the common ground between your opponents claim and your claim.
After you have written your essay, please make sure to revise the content of your essay. Lastly, be sure to edit your essay by checking grammar, format, and smaller technical details. Please make sure your essay is written in third person.
Tutor feedback:
You have a good start to your essay here; you picked a very interesting topic and you have solid points both against and in support of the topic. There are some organizational issues with the paper, and some interruptions in the flow, that make the paper a little hard to follow and prohibit it from following the prompt guidelines. I would recommend reading through a few example essays, preferably that your teacher gave you, to see how an essay such as this is commonly structured. The type of argumentation is commonly known as Rogerian, so I have attached a resource with a brief outline that shows how this type of argument can be organized. Keep up the good work, and please come back to have us review this again for you after you make the changes so that we can proofread for you. Thank you for having me review it for you today!
Theme Development: Your theme (smoking) is definitely prevalent, and you develop the idea, but since the organization is a bit disjointed, it makes it hard to see the theme fully develop as it should. Once you reorganize, it should be much better.
Adding an annotated bibliography: “Using the MLA guide, list each source as it will appear on the Works Cited page of your essay. In two to three sentences summarize the text.”
