Critical Analysis Essay
Write a policy memo to the U.S. Secretary State based on the following article (which starts on the next page) regarding what the U.S. should do about the “Ukraine problem”;
Your memo should state a clear recommendation to the Secretary in the opening paragraph, then summarize the article from the Washington Post, and then offer an analysis leading to your aforementioned recommendation based on one of the dominant research traditions in the IR literature (realism, liberalism, or idealism/constructivism). You have to pick one of the three (you cannot hedge or do a combination). Whichever research tradition you chose must be based on (i.e. discuss) and cite at least two articles from Mingst & Snyder’s Essential Readings in World Politics (whether it was assigned for our class sessions or not), but may not use Snyder’s “One World, Rival Theories” article.
