Assignment Overview
Having reviewed the content on Plato & Aristotle, students will make an online submission of their response to one of the assignment questions below. The purpose of this assignment is to assess for familiarity with the central ideas of Plato & Aristotle.

Compare and contrast Plato to Aristotle on one of the questions below.

- Explain Plato’s theory of Forms and his metaphysical distinction between intelligible knowledge and sensible belief (opinion). What is the role of recollection?
- Contrast this to Aristotle’s theory of Substance (form & matter) and his account of accidental change.
- What is Aristotle’s account of substantive change, the four causes, and how we acquire knowledge.
- How does Plato’s account concerning knowledge of Forms and their participationdiffer from Aristotle’s account of universals.
Plato & Aristotle on Morality
- List and discuss some of the differences in method and approach to morality in Platoand Aristotle.
- How do we attain virtue? Is it recovered through recollection and/or produced through certain activities?
- How is virtue connected to the parts of the soul for each thinker?
