This historical paper will analyze and interpret one or more primary documents (from the Hoffman text) while setting it within a summary of the topic?s historical context (using the Goldfield text). The paper should be 3-5 pages (12 font, double spaced, standard text and margins). The first paper is due on the date in which you lead the discussion using your work. It is expected that main points from the paper will guide your presentation to start our class discussion. The second paper is due for all students on 4/30/13. Though no additional research is required, it is necessary that the Goldfield and Hoffman texts as well as any other sources be cited using the Chicago Manual of Style. This format is provided via the attached handout. All students must submit hard copies of their papers to the instructor on the due date, as well as submit the paper electronically to ?Turn-it-in.com.? Instructions on how to electronically submit papers are provided on page 4 of this guide packet.
